Big hello to you, guys!

Welcome to the first issue of our official »Directors’ Blog« for »Dark Moon Fairytales«. Before starting off with today’s topic, I’d like to introduce myself: My name is Maciej also known as Moonfarrier FX (or MFX in short). But within the team I’m simply called Matti. I’m a little big part of the Dark Moon production staff and besides graphical works such as print and online media, every take that will end up on the screen is going through my hands first.

But this is going to be our subject in one of the upcoming entries. Today it’s all about the the production kick-off, which was kind of celebrated with a new photo shooting on this year’s Whitsun weekend. The reason was the creation of the film posters that should be used at miscellaneous conventions all across Germany next year. For me is the beginning of the creative and possibly more exhausting work after a long time of preproduction.

All actresses of the Sailor Senshi were present at this eleven hours lasting shooting. And I have to admit that the photos turned out to be absolutely awesome. There are some beautiful shots of each girl. It’s going to be a tough choice for me. Following you’ll find some impression that Katharina and I took during the shooting. Sadly, we were both stressed out by the job quite a bit, so we couldn’t take any more. But the pictures show very clearly that we were all having a fun time.



I enjoyed the work at this shooting a lot and I am looking forward to the production in the upcoming months. This is not due to the technical equipment at the studio in Witten only. The big success can be taken up by everyone involved and I’d like to thank each person for his or her hard work and the great atmosphere. Meaning: Attention, please! We’re proceeding in alphabetical order^^

Adriano & Katharina: Couldn’t have done the job without your hard work. No wonder the two of you ended up completely exhausted. Many thanks to both of you!

Sebastian: Last, but not least thanks for your commitment, driving the girls all day and the great entertainment. And stop calling my kid, kid!

What's up next? After all the photos have been sighted (and there are at least 800 of them), we select the motives that will make it onto the posters. This means a lot of Photoshop and many sleepless nights for me, but it'll be worth it. The final result shall be ten posters in DIN A0 format. As soon as the first poster is ready, I'll post a demonstration. Until then, you can get a first glimpse at what the poster might look like. The following picture shows one of my scribbles that is used as some sort of mood for the pictures.

You see, the production is finally in full activity and going ahead. That's why Katharina will take over for the next issue of the »Directors' Blog«. She will grant you a look on the first days of shooting.

Ein herzliches Hallo an alle!

Willkommen zur ersten Ausgabe des »Directors Blog« zu »Dark Moon Fairytales«, dem ersten Film in der Dilogie. Bevor wir ins heutige Thema einsteigen, erst einmal paar Worte zu meiner Person: Mein Name ist Maciej oder der Artist known as Moonfarrier FX, kurz MFX. Im Team bin ich allerdings nur als Matti bekannt. Ich bin bei DM ein kleiner großer Teil des Produktionsteams. Neben grafischen Arbeiten für Print und Online, geht so ziemlich jeder Take, der im Film landen soll, durch meine Hände.

Dies soll aber Thema eines späteren Eintrags werden. Heute geht es um den Start der Produktionsphase, die wir am diesjährigen Pfingstwochenende mit einem neuen Foto-Shooting eingeläutet haben. Anlass dazu war die Gestaltung von Postern für den Film, die im kommenden Jahr auf diversen Conventions eingesetzt werden sollen. Für mich beginnt nach der langen Pre-Production der kreative und vielleicht auch etwas arbeitsintensivere Part.

Zum fast 11-stündigen Shootingmarathon sind die Darstellerinnen der Sailor Senshi angetreten. Und ich muss sagen, dass die Fotos wirklich Hammer geworden sind. Von jeder sind ein paar wunderschöne Schüsse dabei, die mir die Auswahl wirklich schwer machen. Hier ein paar Impressionen, die Katharina und ich während des Shootings machen konnten. Wir waren leider beide ziemlich eingespannt, deswegen blieb kaum Zeit für mehr. Aber die Bilder zeigen doch, dass wir alle an diesem Tag großen Spaß hatten.




Ich, für meinen Teil, habe die Arbeit beim Shooting sehr genossen und freu mich schon auf die Monate, die noch vor uns liegen. Das lag aber nicht allein an der Technik in dem Wittner Studio. Den Erfolg kann sich jeder der Beteiligten auf die Fahne schreiben und ich möchte mich noch einmal bei allen für die geleistete Arbeit und die gute Stimmung bedanken. Also: Aufgepasst! Wir gehen in alphabetischer Reihenfolge vor^^

Sebastian: Vielen Dank für den Einsatz, den Hol- und Bringedienst für die Mädels und die großartige Bespaßung! Und hör auf mich Junge zu nennen, Junge. Muss sonst wohl mal meinen neuen Fausttanz aufführen!

Wie geht's jetzt weiter? Nachdem alle Fotos (und es sind immerhin fast 800 Stück) gesichtet wurden, wird eine engere Auswahl der Motive getroffen, die es letztendlich aufs Poster schaffen werden. Das bedeutet für mich konkret viel Photoshop und viele schlaflose Nächte, aber die Arbeit wird sich lohnen. Das Endresultat werden zehn Poster in DIN A0. Wenn das erste wirklich fertig ist, gibt's natürlich Anschauungsmaterial. Bis dahin könnt ihr euch aber ein ungefähres Bild von den Poster machen, das nachfolgende Bild zeigt nämlich eines meiner Scribbles, die als Vorlage bzw. mood für die endgültigen Poster dienen.

Ihr seht, es geht zügig voran und die Produktion ist endlich von vollem Gange. Deshalb meldet sich Katharina in der nächsten Ausgabe des »Directors' Blog« dann mit einem Bericht von den ersten Drehtagen zu Wort.
